Don't ever underestimate how much a production run in amateur panto will take it out of you! For most of us, just balancing work, family, pets and the weekly house hold tasks is enough and then when you add learning your script, songs and dances, making costumes and props, painting sets, selling tickets etc etc on top, it's no wonder we all feel a little frazzled!
Here we give you our top 10 tips to get you through the panto season both during and after those euphoric performances on stage!
Part 1: Panto Survival
-
Learn your script! Don’t leave it to the last minute!
-
Drink water (so those phantom wee feelings are productive!)
-
Eat whatever the hell you fancy! It’s panto! Did you know that chocolate is proven to be excellent in promoting creativity 🤪🥴
-
Sleep!
Part 2: Recovery
-
Eat nice things but try and get back into a pre panto food routine
-
Sleep!
-
Pamper yourself…..foot mask, face mask, long soak in the bath with a non-panto related book etc
-
Get through all the boring chores you’ve put off doing while finally realising that you’ve “at last” learned the words to your song (or is this just us?)
-
Train your brain not to wake you up at 3 am singing the community song (again, is this just us?! 🤦🏻♀️😂)
-
Expect and prepare for the post panto lurgy (if it doesn’t happen it’s a bonus!!)
And of course once you've got through this panto, prepare your brain and body for the fact that in just over 6 month's you'll be starting the process all over again!
Take care! Sarah and Helen x 🤗
